Allegrini La Grola 1999 is an exemplary representation of the Allegrini winery and the character of a mature vintage from the Valpolicella region. The special quality of this wine lies in its clear balance between fruit, spice, and structure, which is typical for the winery without losing its individuality. The 1999 vintage lends the wine a subtle maturity, creating a fine aromatic diversity and a smooth mouthfeel that continues to develop throughout the evening. Tasting note: Deep ruby red in the glass, aromas of dark berries, plum, raisins, and subtle spice notes unfold, accompanied by a hint of smoke and leather. On the palate, the wine shows a full, well-integrated structure with ripe tannins, balanced fruit, and elegant use of wood. The finish is long, spicy, and carried by a fine minerality, which gives the wine lasting expressiveness. Food-pairing recommendation: This wine harmonizes with aged cheese, braised beef or lamb dishes, mushroom risotto, or game poultry. Its balance of fruit, spice, and structure makes it a companion for hearty dishes that nonetheless allow room for nuances. Optimized enjoyment occurs when served with appropriate accompaniment to fully experience its complexity.

LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
