Bodegas Mauro Terreus Paraje de Cueva Baja 2016 is a single-vineyard wine from Bodegas Mauro, reflecting the distinctiveness of the house in a concentrated, terroir-driven expression. The 2016 vintage brings the typical characteristics of the Paraje Cueva Baja into a rich yet fine-grained structure, making the terroir clearly audible. Terreus serves as a designation for a selective single-vineyard edition of the house, emphasizing the influences of location, soil, and microclimate. This combination of origin and craftsmanship makes the wine a clear statement of the winery and its philosophy of authentic style. Tasting: The appearance is deep ruby red with garnet reflections. The nose reveals dense dark fruits, accompanied by subtle spice and a hint of well-integrated oak. On the palate, Terreus Paraje de Cueva Baja 2016 presents itself as structured, with fine tannins and a long, firm finish. The texture appears creamy-polished, while fruit, spice, and substance merge in a balanced equilibrium, allowing room for further development in the glass. Food Pairing Recommendation: It pairs well with robust dishes such as grilled ribeye, braised lamb, or aged cheese, but also with dark chocolate, which humorously highlights complex aromas.

    LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

    HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

    THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

    COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
