Capanna Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 1997 embodies the terroir of the Montalcino landscape and the serene elegance for which Capanna has stood for generations. The Riserva exhibits particularly careful aging, with grapes meticulously selected and generously exposed to oak, resulting in structure and depth. The 1997 vintage lends depth and balance, blending ripe fruit with spicy complexity, while good acidity and soft tannins ensure remarkable longevity. Critics appreciate the typical Capanna intensity, which, despite its ripeness, is not overpowering but rather combines tranquility and sophistication. On the nose, the wine unfolds aromas of dark cherries, plums, and violets, accompanied by leather, cedar, and a hint of tobacco. On the palate, it is full-bodied yet refined: fine, well-integrated tannins, a concentrated fruit base, notes of cocoa, raisins, and mineral freshness; the finish is long and harmonious, with a lingering spicy aftertaste. For food pairing, a selection of mature cheeses, braised game or a truffle risotto is recommended – dishes that perfectly complement the structure and aromatic depth of this Capanna-Brunello.

LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
