With the 2004 Castello di Fonterutoli Mazzei Chianti Classico Magnum, you bring a mature red wine from one of the most traditional estates in Chianti Classico into your glass. The Castello di Fonterutoli winery belongs to the Mazzei family, which has been rooted in Tuscany for centuries. The magnum bottle highlights the special character of this vintage and is also perfect for a festive evening with several guests.

The 2004 vintage is balanced and mature. On the nose, dark cherries and plums combine with dried herbs, tobacco, and subtle earthy nuances. On the palate, the Chianti Classico is dry, structured, and harmonious. Mature tannins provide support, while the lively acidity ensures freshness. The finish remains spicy and pleasantly long. The focus is not on lush power, but on the classic, elegant style of a mature Tuscan red wine.

Serve it slightly below room temperature and give it some time in the glass. It is a particularly harmonious accompaniment to braised beef, game dishes, roast lamb, or hearty Tuscan cuisine. This magnum also pairs excellently with aged Pecorino.

LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
