Château Angélus 1993 brings the distinct maturity of a great Saint-Émilion vintage to the glass. This red wine comes from the renowned Château Angélus, whose vineyards and characterful cuvées are among the defining names of Bordeaux's Right Bank. The 1993 vintage was produced under challenging conditions and today primarily reveals its developed, classic side.

On the nose, ripe plums and black berries combine with dried herbs, cedarwood, and fine tobacco notes. On the palate, the wine feels balanced and pleasantly mature. The fruit is more restrained than in younger vintages, while silky tannins and an earthy spiciness provide depth. Nuances of leather, dark chocolate, and forest floor appear on the long finish. This bottle is aimed at connoisseurs who appreciate Bordeaux with maturity and complex aromas.

Château Angélus 1993 is in a phase of maturity and should be opened now so that its fully developed bouquet can be appreciated. It is a particularly harmonious accompaniment to braised beef cheeks, duck breast with a rich sauce, or oven-roasted lamb. Its spicy, elegant structure also makes it a fitting pairing for aged hard cheeses.

LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
