Château Belgrave 5ème Grand Cru Classé 2009 presents itself as a classic Pauillac with expressive depth and fine balance. The Belgrave estate in the Haut-Médoc maintains a tradition of soil harmony and oak barrel aging, which gives the wine its characteristic structure. The 2009 vintage was praised by critics such as Falstaff, Parker, Jancis Robinson, Jeff Leve, and Wine Spectator for its complexity and remarkable aging potential. The terroir characteristics—gravel and delicate fruit—combine to create a wine that is captivating both now and in the years to come. Its aging in barriques imparts notes of vanilla and graphite that blend harmoniously with the fruit.

In the glass, the wine displays a ruby red color with garnet reflections. The nose presents aromas of cassis, blackcurrant, dark plum, and a subtle hint of oak spice, complemented by notes of graphite and cedar. On the palate, an elegant tannin structure unfolds, supported by vibrant acidity; the wine is concentrated yet polished, with a long, mineral finish that still offers room for further refinement. The finish is long and reveals a delicate saline note.

Food pairing suggestion: Ideal with roast beef fillet, lamb chops, or truffle risotto. A short decanting before serving (approximately 30-60 minutes) opens up the aromas; serve at approximately 16-18°C to fully appreciate its balance of fruit, structure, and spice.

    LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

    HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

    THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

    COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
