Château Branaire-Ducru 2016 brings the classic elegance of Saint-Julien to the glass. As a Quatrième Grand Cru Classé, the Château belongs to the famous 1855 Bordeaux Classification. Its vineyards are situated on the gravelly soils of the Médoc, which allow Cabernet Sauvignon to ripen with particular precision and structure. The 2016 vintage is considered exceptionally successful in the Médoc: sunny ripeness combines with freshness and clear contours.

On the nose, the red wine displays blackcurrant, dark cherry, and blackberry, accompanied by violets, cedarwood, and a fine mineral note. On the palate, it feels concentrated but not heavy. Juicy fruit, well-integrated tannins, and a lively acidity give it tension. Hints of cassis, graphite, and spices lead into a long, precise finish. It is precisely this combination of power and finesse that makes the 2016 a characterful choice for lovers of classic Bordeaux wines.

The Château Branaire-Ducru 2016 will reach its optimal drinking window roughly between 2024 and 2045. Feel free to open it an hour before serving and enjoy it at approximately 16 to 18 °C. It pairs particularly well with entrecôte, rack of lamb, or braised beef cheeks. It also shows its elegant, spicy side when served with aged hard cheeses.

    LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

    HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

    THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

    COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
