Chateau Canon-La-Gaffeliere Chateau Canon-La-Gaffeliere 2010 embodies the powerful elegance of the Right Bank of Bordeaux. The estate is one of the most prominent addresses in the appellation due to its hillside location on the limestone plateaus of Saint-Émilion. This soil composition gives the red wine a distinct mineral depth and guarantees outstanding aging potential. The distinctive 2010 vintage is regarded viticulturally as a concentrated masterpiece and impresses with a layered fruit structure and a firm, elegant oak framework. The Merlot and Cabernet Franc grape varieties form a balanced interplay, elevating typical characteristics of the region to a highly complex level.

In tasting, it shows a deep garnet red with ruby reflections. The aroma spectrum includes stewed plums, sweet cherries, and dark berries, interspersed with elegant notes of smoked leather, brown vanilla, wet forest floor, and precise limestone tones. On the palate, it develops a silky-smooth mouthfeel, which shows no harshness despite its youthful firmness. The acidity excellently structures the volume; the final finish lingers on the palate for a long time, celebrating dark chocolate and spice accords. This wine deserves sufficient bottle rest before revealing its full spectrum.

Optimal drinking maturity is reached after seven to nine years of storage potential and reliably extends over several more decades. This development pairs well with richly seasoned main courses such as succulent beef fillet, venison, or braised lamb cheeks. A selected hard cheese with a salty component harmoniously rounds off the mineral spice of the wine.

    LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

    HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

    THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

    COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
