Chateau du Tertre Chateau du Tertre 2000 combines the winery's traditional winemaking style with the specific gravel-shingle soils of the Pessac-Léognan appellation. As a classified Grand Cru Classé, this blend, predominantly of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, has demonstrated remarkable aging potential since its initial release. The historic 2000 vintage offered ideal growing conditions, resulting in a precise fruit structure combined with a stable framework. This climatically favorable harvest laid the foundation for a consistent maturation process that remains evident today.

In the glass, the wine presents a deep dark purple hue and an open bouquet of dark berries, wild cherry varieties, and distinct mineral undertones. Slight accents of smoked tobacco and subtly woody cedar notes emphasize its uncompromising elegance. The palate perceives a medium-bodied wine with fully integrated tannins, flanked by clear acidity. The fruit appears densely concentrated, while the balanced alcohol integration guarantees a long finish, hinting at earthy slate and fresh leaf mold notes.

For suitable pairings, a hearty beef or lamb dish is recommended, which supports the tannin architecture. Braised lamb chops, game birds, or aged Comté cheese achieve optimal harmony in direct combination. Smoked duck breast also proves to be an excellent match, complementing rather than overwhelming the delicate acid balance.

LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
