Château Figeac 2015 brings the exceptional heritage of Saint-Émilion to the glass in a concentrated, precise form. The historic château is known for its gravel-rich soils and unusually high proportion of Cabernet varieties. This gives the red wine a combination of Merlot’s silky richness and the cool tension and long structure of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The 2015 vintage ranks among the most successful years on the Right Bank and shows Figeac already with great depth, while remaining remarkably balanced.

On tasting, aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry and dark cherry unfold. Violet, graphite, cedarwood and a hint of tobacco add further complexity. On the palate, the red wine is powerful yet fresh and direct. Fine-grained tannins carry the long finish, while the precise acidity provides tension. International wine critics consistently rate the 2015 as an outstanding vintage with excellent ageing potential.

Château Figeac 2015 should reach its optimal drinking window approximately between 2025 and 2055. Ideally, open it a little in advance and serve it with pink-roasted beef fillet, rack of lamb or braised game. Its Cabernet-driven structure also makes a compelling pairing with a mature hard cheese.

    LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

    HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

    THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

    COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
