Château Léoville Las Cases 1995 combines the strategic precision of one of Saint-Julien's leading estates with a notoriously outstanding cellar vintage, considered a benchmark for modern Bordeaux winemaking. For generations, the estate has relied on minimal intervention in the vineyard and consistent manual labor in grape selection, resulting in a pure expression of the gravelly subsoil. The 1995 harvest is characterized by fully ripe Cabernet Sauvignon components, well-balanced acidity, and a clear tannin structure, indicating exceptional aging potential.

In sensory evaluation, a compact depth of dark berry fruits first reveals itself, flanked by notes of roasted mocha, cedar wood, and graphite minerality. The palate appears dense and intricate, with tannins already fully integrated, creating a velvety and long-lasting finish. The optimal drinking window begins now and realistically extends over the coming decade under stable, cool storage conditions.

Practically, dishes with complex spices and moderate fat development have proven ideal pairings. Braised pasture lamb, wild game stews with herbed onions, or selected hard cheeses from the high mountains serve as perfect partners, as the wine's stable body fully supports the flavor layers of the main components.

LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
