Château Léoville Poyferré 2018 brings the concentrated, powerful side of Saint-Julien to the glass and lends classic Bordeaux elegance to special evenings. As a Deuxième Grand Cru Classé, the château is one of the Médoc’s most renowned estates. Its location between Pauillac and Margaux combines the structure of Cabernet Sauvignon with the aromatic finesse of Saint-Julien. The warm 2018 vintage gives this red wine ripe fruit, depth and a supporting freshness.

On the nose, blackcurrant, blackberry and dark cherry are complemented by violet, cedar, graphite and delicate spice notes. The wine is concentrated and precise on the palate. Ripe, assertive tannins give it structure, while juicy fruit and a cool mineral note provide balance. The long finish brings together dark berries, tobacco, cocoa and subtle spice. Assessments by renowned wine critics particularly praise its combination of power, elegance and excellent ageing potential.

Château Léoville Poyferré 2018 is expected to reach its ideal drinking window from around 2026 to 2045. Ideally, open it with braised beef cheeks, entrecôte, rack of lamb or roast game. Aged hard cheese also pairs beautifully with its dark fruit and spicy tannins.

    LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

    HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

    THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

    COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
