    Château Les Carmes Haut-Brion 2019

This red wine from Pessac-Léognan combines the elegance of a great Bordeaux with a distinctive, modern character. Château Les Carmes Haut-Brion is one of the left bank's special estates. The winery is located on a small, exceptional plot near Bordeaux and uses a high proportion of Cabernet Franc. As a result, the 2019 vintage is less heavy than many classic wines from the region, while remaining exceptionally deep and age-worthy.

In the glass, the wine reveals dense, dark fruit with aromas of black cherry, blackberry, and plum. Delicate floral nuances, graphite, cedar, and subtle spice notes add further tension. On the palate, it is concentrated and precise. Silky tannins support the ripe fruit, while fresh acidity provides energy and a long, clear finish. The 2019 vintage already combines approachability with the stature of a wine that can continue to evolve over many years.

Its optimal drinking window is approximately between 2026 and 2045. Ideally, open the bottle with some lead time during the early years and give the wine time in the glass. It shows its full versatility with braised beef, rack of lamb, duck breast, or an aromatic mushroom dish. This red wine also pairs excellently with aged hard cheese.

    LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

    HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

    THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

    COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
