Chateau Lynch-Bages 1990 [Double Magnum] embodies the refined Pauillac tradition. The Lynch-Bages estate, recognized as a Grand Cru Classé for centuries, combines Cabernet Sauvignon density with a delicate Bordeaux elegance. The 1990 vintage bestows upon the house a concentrated fruitiness and an elegant structure, which ages more slowly in the Double Magnum, thus developing greater complexity. Typical notes of dark cassis, graphite, and cedar mingle with subtle tobacco aromas, while a mineral freshness adds definition. Critics, from Falstaff and Parker to Jancis Robinson, emphasize the balance, depth, and long-term resonance of this estate – characteristics that make this bottle an exceptional collector's item and a true connoisseur's treasure.

On the palate, a complex nose unfolds, revealing aromas of cassis, blackcurrant, graphite, and leather; the palate displays a fine, well-integrated tannin structure, supported by ripe acidity and a long, minerally complex finish. The wine is elegantly structured, yet retains its substantial character, allowing it to maintain its approachability despite its age. Food pairing recommendation: A perfectly grilled rib-eye steak, rack of lamb with herbs, or game dishes such as venison medallions, accompanied by roasted porcini mushrooms or truffle potatoes, stylishly showcase the depth of this Bordeaux.

    LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

    HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

    THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

    COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
