Chateau Lynch-Bages 2013 is one of the iconic Pauillac Cru Classé wines, prized for its consistent balance of depth, structure, and finesse. The Lynch-Bages estate utilizes gravelly soils and a cool climate that allows the grapes to ripen slowly. The 2013 vintage presents itself as a focused, terroir-driven wine with great potential; aging in French oak for approximately 18 months imparts elegant vanilla and toasty notes without masking the fruit. Critics from Falstaff, Parker, Jancis Robinson, Jeff Leve, and Wine Spectator praise its clear fruit, pronounced minerality, and the patient development of its structure.

The nose is dominated by cassis, blackcurrant, and graphite, supported by subtle notes of smoke and cedar. On the palate, it is concentrated yet elegant, with fine tannins, well-integrated oak, and a long, mineral finish. It is expected to reach its drinking window in the 2020s and continue to do so for the next decade; with proper storage, this wine can provide enjoyment for 15 to 20 years or more. Food pairing: perfect with a well-grilled rib-eye or rack of lamb, accompanied by truffle risotto or a cheese board featuring aged Comté – allowing the fruit, structure, and spice to harmonize beautifully.

    LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

    HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

    THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

    COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
