Château Margaux Château Margaux 2005 offers a grand Bordeaux for special evenings and festive menus. The 2005 vintage is considered one of the outstanding vintages in Médoc over the past few decades. Château Margaux, one of the famous Premier Crus from Haut-Médoc, combines finesse, depth, and exceptional aging potential. The wine comes from the historic Château Margaux in Margaux and impressively demonstrates why the estate is considered one of the icons of Bordeaux.

In the glass, the red wine presents concentrated aromas of blackcurrant, ripe plum, and violets. These are complemented by subtle notes of cedar, tobacco, graphite, and spices. On the palate, the 2005 vintage is powerful yet precise. Dense, now well-integrated tannins support the dark fruit and lead to a long, elegant finish. Its balance already makes it a special drinking pleasure today, while further bottle aging promises additional depth.

With careful storage, Château Margaux 2005 will be in an excellent drinking window from approximately 2025 to 2050. Ideally, open the bottle early and serve the wine in large Bordeaux glasses. As an accompaniment, pink-roasted leg of lamb, beef fillet with truffle jus, or aromatic game are recommended. This aged Bordeaux also shows its characteristic elegance when paired with aged hard cheese.

    LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

    HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

    THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

    COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
