Chateau Montrose Chateau Montrose 2003 brings the characteristic depth of a great Saint-Estèphe to your glass. The Château is one of the Deuxièmes Grands Crus Classés of the 1855 vintage and is located directly on the Gironde. Its vineyards are characterized by gravelly soils that give the vines a powerful structure and exceptional longevity. The warm 2003 vintage produced particularly concentrated, ripe grapes. Today, this red wine therefore displays an impressive combination of richness, spice, and mature Bordeaux elegance.

The nose features blackcurrant, dark plum, and blackberry alongside cedar, tobacco, and subtle graphite notes. On the palate, Chateau Montrose is dense and powerful, yet clearly defined. Mature tannins provide structure, while aromas of cassis, dried herbs, and dark chocolate develop. The long finish underscores the exceptional quality of this estate and makes every tasting a calm, enjoyable experience. Open the bottle well in advance and serve it at the right temperature to allow the fruit and spice to come through in balance.

As a food pairing, this mature Bordeaux is recommended with beef fillet, braised beef brisket, or leg of lamb. Game dishes with a rich sauce and aged hard cheese also complement its dark fruit and spicy depth.

LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
