Chateau Nairac 2005 [Half] is a classic Barsac-Sauternes from a renowned estate known for its fine botrytized sweet wines. The half bottle (375 ml) makes this wine a perfect accompaniment to special occasions or an exquisite dessert menu. The 2005 vintage is among the outstanding in Bordeaux, characterized by precise botrytis, ripe fruit, and an elegant acidity that maintains its balance throughout its long aging.

On the nose, honeyed notes, dried apricots, orange blossom, and a hint of almond unfold. On the palate, the wine displays a creamy texture, rich in ripe fruit, peach, and candied citrus, interwoven with a lively acidity that balances the sweetness. The complexity increases with each hour in the glass, accompanied by mineral nuances and a long, silky finish reminiscent of delicate nutty notes. Critics such as Falstaff and Parker praise the balance and aging potential of this vintage.

Regarding its drinking window, a rough guideline can be given: The optimal drinking window for this vintage is expected to be between 2020 and 2030, although the wine can continue to gain complexity beyond that time. Food pairing recommendation: Foie gras or blue cheese on a cheese board, complemented by fig or apricot desserts; a sweet wine served by the glass, which harmoniously rounds off the dessert or cheese selection.

LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
