Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande 1999 is one of the classic Pauillacs from the Left Bank of the Médoc and comes from one of the most respected estates in this appellation. Château Pichon-Comtesse is a Second Cru Classé and has helped shape Bordeaux wine culture for centuries. The 1999 vintage falls into a period in which the estate recorded a constant increase in quality and perfected its classic style with modern cellar techniques.

On the nose, this wine presents a complex aroma of dark berry fruits, subtle cassis notes, and delicate hints of minerality. On the palate, it shows the characteristic structure of a Pauillac: full-bodied tannins are harmoniously integrated into the wine's stature, supported by finely balanced acidity and persistent fruit components. Flavors of plum and fine herbs run elegantly and lastingly through the finish. This wine was at its peak during the 2000s and 2010s and is slowly approaching a phase of completion where the tannins are fully integrated.

Château Pichon-Comtesse 1999 pairs wonderfully with classic French beef, lamb creations, or savory braised dishes. A Bordeaux of this caliber also deserves cheese platters with select varieties or braised game dishes.

LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
