Château Tour Saint Christophe 2016 combines the silky elegance of Right Bank wines with the concentrated power of a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru. Owned by the Thienpont family, the estate makes optimal use of its clay-rich limestone soils. The 2016 vintage is internationally considered one of the most beautiful of the decade, which is reflected in its deep fruit density and harmonious development. Constant vineyard checks and traditional cellar management focus on maximum terroir purity.

On the nose, ripe plum and black cherry dominate the bouquet, before fine nuances of oak, leather, and juniper develop with aeration. A finely structured tannic framework carries the dark fruit, supported by mineral freshness in the long finish. The recommended drinking window extends from 2022 to 2034, with the bottle gaining even more expression with age.

Thanks to its distinctive fruit architecture and velvety tannins, this wine is recommended as an accompaniment to long-braised dishes such as leg of lamb, venison roast, or aged hard cheeses. Hearty beef goulash or grilled pork schnitzel also find a harmonious partner in it.

    LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

    HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

    THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

    COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
