The Christmann Königsbacher Idig GG 2015 combines precise winemaking with a unique volcanic soil terroir in the southern Palatinate. The family-run winery refrains from artificial interventions, focusing instead on precise parcel selection and natural fermentation methods. The specific clay volcanic soils of the Idig zones promote complex minerality, while the warm 2015 vintage favored harmonious full ripeness. Gentle pressing techniques preserved the intense fruit range while simultaneously creating a taut acidity curve.

In sensory evaluation, the glass impresses with clear aromas of ripe pears, citrus notes, and a distinct hint of crushed rock. On the palate, it reveals a dense texture, a solid structural framework, and a lasting mineral finish. This balanced compactness makes it ideal to combine with roasted turkey, hearty mushroom variations, or aged mountain cheese. The present acidity ensures that the heavier components of the dishes appear visually light and that the overall composition is balanced.

LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
