Clos du Marquis Clos du Marquis 2000 brings the classic, mature style of Saint-Julien to the glass. The Clos du Marquis estate is part of the Léoville Las Cases group and stands for Cabernet-dominated Bordeaux wines with clear structure and pronounced terroir character. The 2000 vintage is considered one of the particularly successful vintages in the Médoc. After more than two decades, this red wine shows its maturity without losing its distinctive directness.

In the bouquet, blackcurrant, dark plum and dried herbs combine with cedar, tobacco, graphite and subtle earthy notes. On the palate, the Clos du Marquis is concentrated and balanced. Mature tannins provide structure, while the fruit increasingly develops towards leather, spices and cocoa. The long finish underscores its origin and makes this mature Bordeaux an exciting choice for connoisseurs of classic Médoc wines. Open the bottle carefully and give it some time in the glass.

The wine particularly harmoniously accompanies pink-roasted beef fillet, entrecôte or braised beef cheeks. Lamb with herbs, game dishes and aged hard cheese also pick up its spicy, earthy aromas. Serve it slightly tempered with a festive dinner, where the wine has enough room to develop.

LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
