Clos Rougeard Saumur Champigny Les Poyeux 2016 is an outstanding red wine from the renowned Clos Rougeard winery, known for its exceptional quality and tradition. The 2016 vintage presents an impressive balance of elegance and complexity, characterized by careful hand-harvesting and slow, cool fermentation. This winery is renowned for its biodynamic farming, which makes the wine unique. Les Poyeux is an expression of pure terroir identity and offers a fascinating depth that will delight wine connoisseurs.

The tasting reveals a complex aroma with notes of ripe red berries, black cherries, and a hint of spice. The wine is elegantly structured, with fine tannins and a pleasant freshness, indicating ideal drinking maturity. The complex aromas and fine acidity make the Clos Rougeard Les Poyeux 2016 a perfect companion for the coming years, with optimal drinking maturity expected between 2022 and 2030. For a harmonious tasting experience, we recommend dishes with grilled meat, game, or aged cheese, which beautifully underline the wine's complex nuances.

    LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

    HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

    THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

    COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
