Domaine de la Romanee-Conti Corton Grand Cru 2017 [Damaged Label]

The Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Corton Grand Cru 2017 showcases the distinctive style of this Burgundy estate: a precise balance between terroir, winemaking expertise, and decades of meticulous care shapes every facet of the wine. The Corton Grand Cru displays exceptional finesse, supported by the rich, marble soil and subtle minerality that lends the wine its depth. The estate's unique character lies in the unwavering dedication to its Grand Cru vineyards, the careful aging process, and the rigorous selection that make this greatness possible. Critics such as Falstaff, Parker, Jancis Robinson, Jeff Leve, and Wine Spectator recognize the estate's unmistakable style and consider the 2017 vintage particularly promising in terms of potential and elegance.

On the palate, an enticing nose of red berries, violets, and a delicate mineral note unfolds. Silky tannins and a concentrated fruit palette of cherries and plums are revealed, supported by a clear mineral structure and subtle spice. The finish is long, elegant, and complex, with a fresh vibrancy that reflects the terroir. With aeration, the aromatic complexity opens up further, and the wine demonstrates its longevity. Food pairing recommendation: Beef tenderloin, game dishes such as venison or red deer accompanied by mushrooms or truffles, and aged cheeses like Comté or Époisses; also pairs wonderfully with grilled ribeye and other intensely flavored meat dishes.

    LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

    HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

    THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

    COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
