Domaine Georges Mugneret-Gibourg Echezeaux Grand Cru 2019 bears the unmistakable signature of a Burgundy estate that has honed its terroir and winemaking skills over generations. The 2019 Echezeaux Grand Cru displays a delicate structure, its rich, marble soil and microclimatic nuances adding depth. The 2019 vintage impresses with its ripe balance, without sacrificing the freshness of the Pinot Noir, an assessment shared by Falstaff, Parker, Jancis Robinson, Jeff Leve, and Wine Spectator. The nose is dominated by red berries, violets, and a hint of damp minerality; on the palate, silky tannins unfold, along with concentrated cherry and plum fruit, underscored by mineral precision and subtle spice. The finish is long, elegant, and complex, with a lingering freshness that reflects the terroir.

Aeration develops an even more complex aromatic profile, revealing truffle and smoky nuances as well as a broader mineral freshness. This vintage is expected to reach its drinking window between 2026 and approximately 2035. Food pairing recommendation: Beef fillet or game dishes such as venison or red deer, accompanied by mushrooms or truffles; mature cheeses like Comté or Époisses are a good match, and grilled ribeye with intense aromas also benefits from this Burgundian style. In the glass, it presents a bright ruby-red color that unfolds slowly and already hints at depth in its youth. This interplay of finesse and depth makes it a wine that continues to improve with aeration.

    LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

    HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

    THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

    COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
