Dominus Estate 1990 is a Bordeaux-inspired red wine from Napa Valley, the 1990 vintage being an outstanding example of aging potential and complexity. Known for its terroir focus and precise Bordeaux-style blending, Dominus Estate combines Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc into a multi-layered, slowly unfolding structure. The wine is considered an icon of the estate by critics: Falstaff, Parker, Jancis Robinson, Jeff Leve, and Wine Spectator all praise the balance of fruit, spice, and minerality, as well as the extensive aging potential of this vintage. The estate's unique character lies in its calcareous soils and an art of blending that harmoniously unites the grapes and shapes the wine for decades to come. On the palate, the Dominus Estate 1990 reveals a dark, concentrated nose of cassis, blackcurrant, graphite, and a subtle smokiness; leather and cedar further enhance its complexity. On the palate, it displays velvety, well-ripened tannins, fine acidity, and a clear balance between fruit and oak. The wine develops a silky texture while maintaining structure and length, with earthy notes and minerality that continue to unfold. The finish is long, mineral, and elegantly spicy. Food pairing suggestion: Serve with mature cheeses such as Comté or Roquefort, grilled ribeye, or pepper-crusted lamb chops; ideally at 16–18 °C.

    LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

    HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

    THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

    COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
