Familie Gesellmann G 2016

This wine combines the consistent philosophy of a traditional family estate with the precise expression of the 2016 vintage. The winery relies on organically farmed plots and strict yield control, which gives the wine a distinctive terroir and clear structure. The 2016 vintage is considered by experts to be a balanced expression, as relatively stable autumn temperatures gently promoted full ripeness without straining the natural acidity. This combination results in a bottled wine that is already convincing now and remains cellar-worthy for many years thanks to its firm structural architecture.

In tasting, it reveals a smooth body with dominant forest berry notes, enriched by subtle spicy nuances and an elegant, dry finish. The tannic component is fully integrated and no longer requires long aging; merely ten minutes of aeration fully opens the complex bouquet. The optimal drinking window is from 2019 to 2027, at which point it will confirm its rounded smoothness. This style perfectly complements moderate cheese platters, lightly grilled poultry, or hearty grain dishes, where its balance can fully unfold.

LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
