Grattamacco L'Alberello 2020 captures the distinctive character of the Bolgheri area in the glass. This Grattamacco red wine is made from Cabernet Franc trained using the traditional Alberello system. This bush-trained vine system gives the wine its name and lends it a particularly distinctive profile. At the same time, it demonstrates how precisely and elegantly Cabernet Franc can be interpreted on the Tuscan coast.

The nose combines dark berries, black cherries, and floral nuances with herbs, tobacco, and delicate spices. On the palate, the 2020 vintage is concentrated yet clearly structured. Juicy fruit meets distinctive tannins and a fresh, supporting acidity. The long finish reveals mineral undertones and subtle balsamic notes. The wine already possesses charm, but will gain further depth with a few years of bottle aging. Its optimal drinking window is approximately between 2026 and 2038.

Serve the L'Alberello 2020 slightly below room temperature and give it some time in the glass or decanter. It pairs as convincingly with braised beef cheeks, game dishes, and lamb as it does with tagliata with rosemary. It also showcases its powerful yet elegant character alongside aged Pecorino or hearty pasta with porcini mushrooms.

    LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

    HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

    THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

    COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
