Jerome Bressy Domaine Gourt de Mautens 2016

This red wine from the Languedoc comes from a winemaker known for authentic wines full of character from this diverse region. The 2016 vintage brings the warmth and ripeness of the South of France summer into the bottle, which is reflected in its concentrated, accessible structure.

The 2016s show dense fruit aromas with fine tannins, making the wine elegant and drinkable without losing any depth. The wine has enough structure to be enjoyed now, but will also develop further complexity over the coming years. The bouquet combines red berries with subtle earthy notes – typical of the soils and grape varieties of this area.

This wine pairs perfectly with barbecue evenings featuring spicy meat dishes, as well as hearty stews, aged cheese, or Mediterranean cuisine. Open the bottle about half an hour before serving to enjoy the full development of its aromas.

LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
