Jérôme Bressy Domaine Gourt de Mautens Blanc 2016 This white wine from the northern Rhône embodies the philosophy of Jérôme Bressy, whose winery is fully committed to organic farming and traditional aging in large wooden barrels. The distinctive weather of the 2016 vintage brought ideal ripening conditions, giving the blend of indigenous varieties intense depth while avoiding heavy richness. The referential name honors historical noble families of the region and symbolizes the connection between classic craftsmanship and modern precision. Characteristic is always the conscious avoidance of dominant oak in favor of the actual soil characteristics.

In sensory analysis, the wine impresses with a broad bouquet of ripe stone fruits, floral accents, and a distinct hint of wax candles. The structure appears elegant and supple, supported by a noticeable salinity that speaks to a pleasant smoothness in the mouth. The finish lingers fresh and clear, with subtle nutty notes discretely mixing with the fruit concentration.

Can be easily served with lean poultry, grilled fish, or aromatic herb dishes. The combination is ideally complemented by Mediterranean preparations and mature cheese specialties.

LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
