Julian Haart Wintricher Großer Herrgott Kabinett 2024 combines the distinctive minerality of the Mosel Valley with an elegant fruitiness typical of the Kabinett style. The Julian Haart winery in Wintrich is considered one of the region's most influential winemakers; slate soils and minimally invasive methods characterize the vineyards and ensure clear, refined structures. The 2024 vintage produces cool, precise wines with vibrant acidity, which carries this wine through its aromatic citrus and stone fruit notes. Critics such as Falstaff, Parker, Jancis Robinson, Jeff Leve, and Wine Spectator appreciate the balance of fruit, freshness, and minerality in Mosel Rieslings, and this Kabinett is no exception.

In the glass, the wine is pale yellow and clear, with aromas of green apple, lime, peach blossom, and a delicate minerality reminiscent of wet slate. On the palate, an elegant structure unfolds: a subtle residual sweetness supported by lively acidity, accompanied by a pronounced freshness and a long finish with nuances of grapefruit and white pear. The balance makes it fresh, yet harmonious and approachable, allowing it to retain its purity even in its youthful freshness.

The optimal drinking window is expected to be between 2025 and 2030, although the wine is already enjoyable now and will gain in complexity in the coming years. It pairs well with sushi, grilled seafood, mildly spicy Asian dishes, or a light cheese such as fresh goat cheese. For an evening meal, it also complements carpaccio or light poultry dishes nicely.

    LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

    HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

    THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

    COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
