Kühling-Gillot Nackenheimer Riesling trocken 2020 The Kühling-Gillot winery has long been one of the leading names in southwestern Rheinhessen and has been cultivating its vineyards according to strict biodynamic principles for years. The grapes for this bottle grow in the classic Nackenheim steep slopes, where mainly calcareous marl and clay soils give the must precise minerality and a firm character. The climate cycle of 2020 was characterized by ripe summer conditions and distinct temperature differences at night, so that the berries developed full fruit concentration, but the natural acidity spectrum remained completely intact.

In the glass, the Riesling appears clear and intense with striking aromas of lemon and quince, as well as subtle honey violet undertones, indicating careful fermentation and gentle fruit handling. On the palate, it is firm, supple, and distinctly fruit-driven, accompanied by dry minerality and a long, salty finish. The ideal consumption phase is approximately between 2024 and 2027, with the robust structure favoring slow maturation. It is recommended to serve with white fish, prawns, or slightly spicy vegetable curries.

    LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

    HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

    THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

    COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
