The 2015 Kühling-Gillot Pettenthal Riesling Grosses Gewächs offers the minerality and elegance that define the Rheingau terroir – with no residual sweetness, being dry and structured instead.

The Grosses Gewächs seal is the highest German classification for dry wines: Weingut Kühling-Gillot ranks this Riesling as a top-quality wine from the esteemed Pettenthal single vineyard. The 2015 vintage has nine years of bottle aging behind it and is currently reaching its optimal drinking maturity. This is not a fruity, casual wine, but a Riesling that deserves your attention and time in the glass.

Its dry character and mineral structure make this wine a versatile food companion: oysters, steamed fish, delicate poultry, or goat cheese are perfectly complemented by the pronounced acidity and minerality of this Rheingau Riesling.

LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
