Larmandier-Bernier Les Chemins d'Avize Grand Cru Extra Brut 2011 combines the distinct chalk structure of the Côte des Blancs with consistently biodynamic production and contains no dosage or other grape varieties. The grapes were harvested exclusively from the Grand Cru area of Avize, giving this champagne a clear, mineral base. The 2011 vintage benefited from long hours of sunshine, which allowed for full phenolic ripeness without sacrificing the natural freshness of the steep slopes. Extended aging on the lees develops complex dimensions, combining fresh citrus with stony nuances and toasted almonds.

In the sensory evaluation, the texture is densely packed, supported by a robust acidic framework that ensures long-term aging potential. Characteristics of white flower pollen, rough chalk, and spicy notes dominate the bouquet, while continuous perlage and a salty-dry finish underline an authentic terroir character. Fermentation with native yeast strains and the absence of technical interventions preserve its unadulterated purity.

Pairs excellently with gently cooked white fish, marinated shrimp, or dishes with light herbal notes. The optimal drinking window extends to approximately 2030.

LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
