The Le Macchiole Messorio 2011 represents an outstanding example from the renowned Italian wine-growing region of Bolgheri. The Le Macchiole winery focuses on the highest standards of craftsmanship, as evidenced by the 2011 vintage with its intense aromatic complexity. Periods of warmth in the summer ensured a full-bodied richness and a solid structural framework, which gives this wine its character as a powerful southern Tuscan. It is among the demanding examples that maintain a balance between fruit aromas and a mineral note. The nose reveals ripe berry notes paired with subtly spicy undertones, which develop through aging in wood. On the palate, the compact texture is confirmed with fine tannins and a long-lasting finish. Critics often highlight its excellent aging potential, suggesting that the wine may only fully unfold its splendor in the next decade, though it is already enjoyable now. This is due to the targeted approach to cultivating and developing grape quality in the cellar. Heavy meat dishes with a rich flavor of their own are recommended as perfect accompaniments. Hearty lamb or game dishes combine harmoniously with the richness and acidity of the liquid in the glass. The optimal phase for enjoyment is now, although patience when opening will give the wine room to develop. Thus, this bottle offers a rare experience of a classic Italian cult wine for connoisseurs and collectors alike.

    LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

    HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

    THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

    COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
