Leitz Berg Schlossberg Riesling dry 2012 – this dry Riesling from the Rheingau winery Leitz displays the classic elegance of the Berg Schlossberg vineyard in Rüdesheim. The Leitz winery is one of the leading producers in the region and places great importance on purity and expressive minerality. The 2012 vintage was particularly full of character for German Rieslings: a warm, sunny summer put the vines in a striking balance between fruit and acidity.

The nose presents subtle stone fruit and citrus, underscored by mineral notes typical of this hillside site. On the palate, the wine captivates with precision and freshness, without any unnecessary heaviness. The dry style underscores the acidity structure, which gives the wine tension and longevity. The complexity develops with air and time.

This Riesling pairs excellently with fish and seafood – for example, with pan-fried halibut or oysters. Spicy Asian dishes also find a perfect partner in its mineral profile. Served at a room temperature of 10–12 degrees, the wine reveals itself at its best.

LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
