Mas Martinet Clos Martinet 2018 brings the characterful side of Priorat to the glass. This red wine originates from Gratallops and is one of the definitive wines of the Mas Martinet estate. The winery is known for its natural approach to the steep vineyards and for wines that combine their origin, the Mediterranean climate, and the barren soils of the Priorat. The 2018 vintage displays a particularly balanced, accessible style.

On the nose, ripe dark berries meet plum, Mediterranean herbs, and subtle spice notes. On the palate, the Clos Martinet is powerful, yet clear and well-structured. Juicy fruit combines with mineral hints and present, ripe tannins. A subtle balsamic spice accompanies the long finish. The wine already possesses charm, but will gain further depth and harmony with a few years of bottle aging. Its optimal drinking window is approximately between 2025 and 2035.

Serve it slightly tempered with braised beef, oven-roasted lamb, or hearty mushroom dishes. The Clos Martinet also pairs excellently with aged hard cheese. It is particularly harmonious with Catalan-inspired cuisine featuring grilled meat, herbs, and dark sauces.

    LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

    HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

    THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

    COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
