Monteverro Terra di Monteverro 2016 embodies the terroir-driven signature of producer Christian Tschida, with a focus on minimal cellar interventions and targeted varietal distribution. The 2016 vintage, characterized by stable warm periods, ensured fully ripe tannins with simultaneously high acidity freshness, providing an ideal foundation for barrel aging. This interplay significantly shapes the identity of his red flagship wine.

The nose is dominated by a spectrum of sweet juniper berries, dried cherries, and subtle earthy tones, coupled with a clear slate note. On the palate, the material is compact and supple, supported by firmly integrated tannins and a medium-dense acidic broadness. The finish remains present, slightly herbaceous, and marked by a salty minerality that clearly situates its origin.

The wine is currently in its best drinking phase and will continue for another seven to nine years, during which the fruit zone will slowly shift into the spice and leather spectrum. It perfectly accompanies hearty roasted chicken, peppery game, or aged goat cheese. Solid protein dishes withstand the intense tannin structure and harmoniously round off the meal.

LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
