Ossian Capitel 2018 is a red wine from the Ticino growing region, produced with a consistent strategy of natural vinification. The 2018 vintage benefited from an extended growing cycle with mild summer nights, allowing the vines to fully develop their aromatic complexity while preserving their natural acidity structure. The cuvée combines Cabernet Franc with a proportion of Merlot, resulting in a specific Swiss red wine characteristic that blends foundation with elegant fruit. After gentle pressing, alcoholic fermentation takes place in small tanks, followed by several months of aging in wooden barrels to structure the fruity splendor without masking it.

In tasting, it presents itself with a deep ruby red color and an expressive nose of ripe cherry, blackberry, and subtle spice notes. The framework of fine, precise tannins leads to a velvety mouthfeel with balanced temperature and a long finish. Its optimal drinking maturity is between 2025 and 2032, making it ideal to serve with medium-rare roast beef, grilled lamb chops, or aged mountain cheese. A reliable companion for cooler seasons.

LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
