Tenuta di Biserno Lodovico 2012 brings the powerful, elegant side of the Tuscan coast to the glass. This red wine comes from Tenuta di Biserno in Bibbona, a winery owned by the brothers Lodovico and Piero Antinori. The namesake Lodovico is one of the house's most distinctive fine wines. Its origin combines a Mediterranean climate with the demanding conditions of the coastal landscape.

The 2012 vintage now shows mature depth and clearly defined structure. On the nose, dark berries, black cherries, and plums meet cedar, tobacco, and fine spices. On the palate, the red wine is concentrated, yet precise and balanced. Mature tannins provide structure, while a lively freshness carries the long finish. Ideally, open the bottle shortly before serving and give the wine time in the glass.

Its optimal drinking window is approximately between 2020 and 2035. The Lodovico 2012 is particularly impressive with hearty dishes: braised beef cheeks, roast lamb, or game with a dark sauce. Its spice also forms a harmonious pairing with aged hard cheese. Serve it slightly below room temperature so that its fruit, structure, and origin can shine through clearly.

LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
