    If you are looking for an aged red wine from one of Spain's most renowned bodegas, the Vega Sicilia Alión 1995 brings distinctive vintage character to the glass. Alión comes from Ribera del Duero and embodies the distinctive red wine style of the Vega Sicilia house. Since the Álvarez family took over in 1982, the winery has stood for consistent quality, precision with a natural approach, and international recognition. Alión is considered one of the defining wines of this region.

    After long aging, you can expect a developed, multi-layered tasting experience. Dark fruit, plum, and dried fruit may be accompanied by fine spicy, balsamic, and tea-like nuances. Alión's style combines the power of a Ribera del Duero red wine with concentrated depth and a long, smooth finish. Comparable vintages are described as powerful yet refined; the 2018, for example, received high ratings from Robert Parker, J. Suckling, Decanter, and Wine Spectator.

    Serve this aged red wine with braised beef, roast lamb, or an aromatic mushroom dish. Aged hard cheese also pairs excellently with its dark fruit and spicy aged aromas. For a special evening, it is recommended to open it with care and allow it to breathe gently, so that its complex development can fully reveal itself.

    Shipping information

    Unless otherwise specified, we ship our wines via UPS. Standard delivery time is approximately 5–8 business days within Germany and approximately 5–10 business days within the EU.

    For logistical reasons, we ship once a week, on Tuesdays.

    We pack the wines in UPS-certified shipping cartons in accordance with UPS packaging guidelines.

    Please note that in the event of extreme temperatures that could compromise wine quality, we will only ship the wines at your express request; otherwise, we will store your purchased wines free of charge until safe shipping is possible.
    Returns & Revocation

    Of course, we accept returns within the scope of legal regulations. Provided the goods are in exactly the same condition as purchased, we will refund the full purchase price, excluding shipping costs, if returned within 14 days of receipt.

    ORIGIN OF THE WINES

    Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

    Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.
    THE DETAILS MATTER

    LABELS & PRINTING

    We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.
    COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

    THE CONTENT

    Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
