Voerzio Barolo La Serra 1997 brings the maturity of a great Piedmontese red wine to the glass. This Barolo comes from the renowned Voerzio winery and the La Serra vineyard in La Morra, one of the traditional towns of the Barolo region. It is based on Nebbiolo, the characterful grape variety of the Langhe region. The 1997 vintage is considered warm and expressive in Piedmont, lending this Barolo a special historical depth.

On the palate, it reveals a mature, complex red wine with aromas of dried red fruits, wild berries, violets, and spices. These are accompanied by hints of tobacco, leather, and forest floor, which emerge in a particularly appealing way in aged Nebbiolo. On the palate, the still-present, fine-meshed structure and an elegant acidity combine with ripe tannins. The finish is spicy, dry, and persistent. Open the bottle carefully and give the Barolo some time in the glass so that its mature nuances can unfold.

This aged Barolo pairs particularly harmoniously with braised beef cheeks, brasato al Barolo, and game dishes. It also provides an elegant accent alongside aged hard cheese or a classic risotto with truffles. Serve it slightly tempered and enjoy it at a leisurely dinner where its evolution can receive the attention it deserves.

LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
