Von Winning Sauvignon Blanc 500 2017 brings the characteristic Sauvignon Blanc of the Palatinate region to the glass with a finely integrated note of oak. The number 500 refers to its maturation in 500-liter oak barrels. As a result, the dry white wine does not taste overtly woody, but rather gains depth, creaminess, and spicy tension. The Von Winning estate stands for sophisticated, terroir-driven wines from Deidesheim that combine freshness with structure.

The nose reveals ripe gooseberry, grapefruit, and delicate herbs, accompanied by smoky and slightly mineral hints. On the palate, the 2017 vintage combines juicy fruit with precise acidity and a pleasantly dry, long finish. The barrel maturation lends it additional richness without masking its typical Sauvignon Blanc freshness. As a matured vintage, this wine is particularly well-suited for quiet moments of enjoyment and the conscious discovery of its multi-layered development.

Serve it well-chilled, but not ice-cold, with pan-fried zander, grilled prawns, or seared goat cheese. The Von Winning Sauvignon Blanc 500 also provides a striking, harmonious accent to asparagus with herb butter and light poultry dishes.

LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
