Weingut Emmerich Knoll Grüner Veltliner Loibner Schütt Smaragd 2000 This 2000 vintage shows a special expression of Grüner Veltliner from the Loibner Schütt, which is anchored in the Smaragd class of the winery. The combination of site and ripeness gives the wine a distinctive structure that reflects the character of the harvest. The special feature of this wine lies in the targeted combination of terroir and the powerful, dry style that Weingut Emmerich Knoll traditionally cultivates. Tasting note: On the nose, noticeable maturity and a mineral finesse unfold; on the palate, the wine presents itself dry with clear spiciness, fine tension, and a lingering finish. The balance between freshness and ripeness characterizes the style of this vintage and makes it a defining presence within the Smaragd category. Food Pairing Recommendation: The wine accompanies steamed or grilled fish, asparagus dishes, fine cheese platters, or light risotto variations – dishes that pick up on the structured clarity of a Smaragd Grüner Veltliner.

LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
