Erich & Walter Polz Winery Ried Hochgrasnitzberg Sauvignon Blanc Grosse STK Lage 2012

This product represents the precise work of the Polz winemaking family, focusing on the essential parcel of Ried Hochgrasnitzberg. The explicit mention of this name guarantees that the content originates exclusively from this specific site zone, aiming to accurately reflect the local conditions. The classification as Grosse STK Lage serves as a firm quality indicator within the regional hierarchy, signaling that the location belongs to the most prominent areas. This classification promises the consumer a level characterized by optimal growth parameters and high concentration. The focus is entirely on the Sauvignon Blanc grape variety, which here unfolds its full terroir expression potential and achieves domain-free clarity through a clean vinification approach. The sharpness of this bottling is aimed at connoisseurs who prioritize authenticity of origin and appreciate clear site definitions.

The aroma profile of the Sauvignon Blanc, shaped by the climatic conditions of the 2012 vintage, comes to the fore. The age of this batch is crucial for assessing its current condition; accordingly, any recommendation regarding optimal drinking maturity is omitted, as the peak enjoyment value for this past vintage has likely already been reached or surpassed. The philosophy behind this container combines traditional craftsmanship with modern care, which is reflected in its consistent quality. Whoever purchases this wine receives a document of the Hochgrasnitzberg, interpreted by the expertise of Erich and Walter Polz. Standard cellar conditions are advisable for storage to ensure the stable preservation of the chemical balance, even if current consumption is the primary focus.

For gastronomic accompaniment, a food pairing that supports the acid structure and aromatic breadth of the Sauvignon Blanc is suitable. Dishes with light white fish are recommended, especially species such as trout or cod, prepared with fresh herbs and subtle salt crystals. The wine harmonizes delicately with tender protein sources without overpowering them. Good pairings also emerge with light poultry variants or a risotto-like dish with seasonal greens and citrus notes. The mineral component, resulting from the choice of the Ried, effectively cleanses the palate and highlights fine flavor layers of the dish, creating a balanced symbiosis between glass and plate. This combination makes the enjoyment attractive for both individual meals and social occasions.

LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
