The Groebe Westhofener Kirchspiel Grande Reserve Riesling 2013 comes from the renowned winery in Rheinhessen, known for its commitment to organic farming and meticulous work with old vines. This 2013 vintage is characterized by the unique terroir of the Westhofener Kirchspiel, one of Germany's finest Riesling growing regions, offering a perfect balance of sunny slopes and cool nights. The wine impresses with its elegance and longevity, based on careful selection and aging in traditional barrels, which lends it exceptional depth and complexity – a highlight for lovers of structured, mineral white wines. On the palate, the Riesling unfolds a captivating array of ripe fruits such as peach and citrus, paired with delicate mineral nuances and a refreshing acidity that ensures a pleasing finish. Experts like Jancis Robinson praise similar wines for their balance and precision, resulting in a harmonious and enjoyable experience. The optimal drinking window is from approximately 2020 to 2030, ideal for further development of its aromas. This Riesling is an excellent food pairing for Asian-inspired dishes such as fried fish or spicy chicken, as its acidity balances the spiciness and accentuates the fruit notes, creating a well-rounded dining experience.

LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
