The 2017 Weingut Keller Kirchspiel GG is a tribute to the precise terroir work of the Keller winery in Rheinhessen. Kirchspiel, one of the estate's most prestigious parcels, stands for mineral depth, clear structure, and finely balanced fruit. The 2017 vintage displays a concentrated yet elegant presence, ripe fruit aromas, and a crisp acidity that provides a vibrant counterpoint to the wine's dryness. This combination of authenticity, ripeness, and the winemaker's skillful hand makes the Kirchspiel GG one of the most distinctive interpretations of dry Riesling from Germany.

Tasting note: On the nose, ripe citrus fruit, green apple, and peach unfold, supported by flint and a pronounced minerality. On the palate, the wine presents a firm yet supple structure, dry with very well-integrated acidity; the finish is long, cool, and elegant. The blending of vintages lends the wine a sophisticated complexity that continues to develop with aeration. The expected drinking window is approximately 2022–2034, although the wine already displays its harmony and will continue to evolve. Food pairing: Grilled turbot, scallops in a light butter sauce, sushi, or asparagus dishes with citrus notes harmonize superbly with the minerality and freshness of this GG.

LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
