Weingut Keller Kirchspiel Grosses Gewächs 2012 combines the terroir-driven approach of the Nackenheim production site in Rheinhessen with the specific basalt and limestone characteristics of the Kirchspiel vineyard. The 2012 vintage offered ideal conditions thanks to a sun-drenched summer, allowing the grapes to achieve deep phenolic ripeness without losing their natural acidity. The winery deliberately avoids intensive filtration and relies on controlled alcoholic fermentation, which makes the wine naturally robust and long-lived.

In tasting, a dry Riesling presents itself with a concentrated nose of yellow plums, lime zest, and a striking pebble stone aroma. On the palate, the structure is dense but split by crisp acidity, which gives it an elegant reach. The salinity intensifies on the finish and accompanies a long-lasting, clear impression. Recommended drinking maturity starting from 2024 until approximately 2035.

The harmonious coupling of full ripeness and freshness positions this label as a suitable companion to grilled sea trout fillet, hard cheeses, and marinated prawns. Even gently spiced vegetable risottos allow the wine's mineral expressiveness to shine through unimpeded.

LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
