The 2016 Weingut Nigl Grüner Veltliner Ried Pellingen Privat Erste Lage brings the characteristic precision of the Kremstal region to your glass. The Ried Pellingen vineyard near Senftenberg is one of Weingut Nigl’s most renowned sites. The 2016 vintage demonstrates the particular strength of matured Grüner Veltliner: rather than superficial freshness, the focus today is on the combination of spice, structure, and calm elegance. The designation "Privat" identifies the estate's sophisticated top-tier wine. Weingut Nigl is known for clearly defined, terroir-driven white wines that show their origin and grape variety in an unadulterated way.

On the palate, this white wine is dry, concentrated, and complex. Fine aromas of ripe apple, yellow pear, and citrus zest combine with typical peppery spice. These are joined by mineral hints and a subtle note of mature herbs. On the palate, the Grüner Veltliner possesses substance and tension. The acidity keeps it lively, while the finish is spicy and persistent. The 2016 vintage is in a mature phase and is particularly well-suited for quiet moments of enjoyment. Serve it with pan-fried zander, veal dishes, or Wiener Schnitzel. It also provides a precise, characterful accent to asparagus with melted butter and herbs.

LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
