Weingut Schäfer Fröhlich Riesling trocken Vulkangestein 2015 represents the specific soil situation of the Mosel volcanic region. The vineyards thrive on dense rock and ash slate, which imparts a deep mineral component to the grapes. The producer has cultivated the hillside sustainably for decades, using precise harvest times with high residual acidity to consistently compensate for the climatic conditions of the 2015 summer. This precise balance between fully ripened fruit and natural tension marks the characteristic difference from typical dry Mosel wines.

Sensory analysis reveals a pale straw-yellow hue with dominant aromas of green apple, citrus juice, and distinct flinty stone notes. The palate presents a taut mid-palate, supported by a vibrant acidity that leads linearly to a long finish. A slightly saline note rounds out the flavor profile and supports its immediate drinkability. With an alcohol volume of twelve percent and minimal residual sweetness, this wine guarantees a stable consistency. After gentle must separation and fermentation, the juice rests briefly before bottling to avoid dominating the secondary aroma factors. For optimal harmony, it pairs well with roasted chicken, aromatically steamed root vegetables, or light Mediterranean fish specialties.

    LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

    HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

    THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

    COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
